WHO ARE WE? CRD!

ABOUT US

Being volunteer led (in a true tie to our Tennessee roots), CRD is a skater operated, recreational competitive sports organization. We strive to offer ways to improve individual athleticism, promote team unity, to maintain strong ties to the Clarksville community through scheduled events ( Volunteer community events and action packed roller derby bouts alike!), and provide a safe and welcome learning environment for those who have a love of all things derby, with or without wheels.

OUR HISTORY

In 2010, the first flat track roller derby team in Clarksville, The Red River Sirens, was created. Soon after in 2011, a second league, known as the Clarksvillian Roller Girls, was formed. The two teams merged in 2017 to become what we know now as Clarksville Roller Derby.

When 2020 hit, many organizations had to navigate themselves back to life after a history making pandemic, and CRD was no exception. Those who could help keep the roller derby community alive in Clarksville, did.

A (BRIEF) HISTORY OF FLAT TRACK ROLLER DERBY

Days past hold the massive skaters hurling round the banked track, throwing arms to faces and sending opposing players over the side wall to the delight of insurance companies everywhere. Oh the skaters are still around. But to be a part of what Roller Derby is now you must know and follow many more rules of engagement, policies of protection, personal safety, and sportsman-like conduct. Times changed and rules were re-imagined. Now, most aspects of this wonderful sport can include a wider spectrum of athlete. Though our tracks have changed and a few more rules added for a richer sport,  we are ever grateful for those before us who paved the way to what we enjoy now.
